Noah at the NCSU vs. UNC game!

Update to the Update :)

I mentioned that we are working on potty training....well up to now, Noah would sit on the potty but not do anything. Last night our big boy actually peed in the potty!! I was so excited and started cheering him on! I think he got a kick out of that. About 30 mins later he wanted to sit on the potty again, and this time he peed up a storm! It was so neat! I know, simple thrills of a mommy! I just cannot beleive that our (barely) 20 month old is using the big boy potty. Now, we just got to work on that aim :)!!

Long over due!!

I know this is long over due- especially since our little boy is almost 20 months :). I have been meaning to do this since 18 months but the time has gotten away from me, yet again!

Noah is doing so much these days! I know I cannot mention everything, but I am hoping to get most down. He is turning into a toddler right before our eyes!!

The biggest things first…
Talking: He has been talking since this summer. Ever since ~17 months he has been repeating EVERYTHING!! It is so cute! He went from one syllables to two in a matter of weeks. In the past two months he has been combining a few words- definitely not to sentences yet, but we’re working on that! He will say, Mommy more….Daddy go? And little things like that. Oh yes, and the Mommy/ Daddy name- he traded in Momma/ Dada for Mommy/ Daddy a few months ago- it melts my heart! I love it!! The cutest is when he and daddy are wrestling and Noah will say dad-deeee…it is the sweetest thing ever! And occasionally he likes to say Justin- it is so funny, he just laughs!
Signing: He is still using his signs. The ones he knows and uses are- eat, more, kitty, bird, cracker, where did _ go, all done, WOLFPACK , first down (Wolfpack style), touchdown…I think those are the big ones. We have slowed down on the sign learning since he is so talkative these days. He learns a word just as fast as the sign now.
potty training: Recently, he has taken in interest in the potty. We have two potties for him, a little one and a seat that goes on the big potty. He likes to sit on the potty, but has not actually "done" anything. He likes to use the toilet paper :)- it makes me laugh! We are not pressuring him, but love that he is so interested. I am hoping we wont be in diapers for too much longer!!
Body parts: He knows many of his body parts and will point them out to you if you ask him. That is currently one of his favorite games. He knows: eyes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, tongue, chin, cheek, neck, hair, head, fingers, toes, feet, belly, belly button, pee-pee :), butt, knee...and one of his favorite songs is "Head, shoulders (although, he is still a little shakey on the shoulders- and usually jumps straight to the knees- haha), knees and toes".
Sleeping: He still goes to bed around 8PM and wakes between 6-7AM. At school he takes one ~2 hour nap. But at home he usually takes two 2ish hour naps (I say 2ish because I can get him to take 2- 3hr naps most days). He is a healthy sleeper, just like Mommy- lol!
Eating: He still eats pretty good. He is slowing down a lot though. He has gotten a little picky, but I am not going to complain, he’s done so well thus far! He loves bananas, blue berries, steak and fish. His favorites a few weeks ago were chicken and green beans, but for whatever reason he is not a fan lately.

Those are the big things. I am sure I will add on as I remember. Some small things…
He went to his first Wolfpack game this past weekend and did great! I was worried that he would get board- our little man does not normally sit still for very long! But he did amazingly well. I think he was intimidated by all the people. To top it off, it was a NCUS vs. UNC game. And NCSU WON!! So it was a great first game to attend ! We let him walk all the way from the parking lot to the stadium and he walked around a lot at half time. He was tuckered out! He slept all the way home. He is a trooper though! By the end of the game he was doing “first down” with all the fans- he was definitely the cutest fan. And the weather was perfect. A little chilly in the morning- but perfect for the game- sunny and warm.

He had chicken pox :(. It was not as bad as you may think for a 19 month old. The worst part was the shingles that he got at the same time. The poor little guy did not even seem to notice the chicken pox part of it all. We had cultures done on the leg rash and it did infact come back positive for varicella (chicken pox/ shingles virus). And then to add icing to the cake, he had an ear infection at the same time. So after a week of antivirals and antibiotics he is feeling much better. The shingles and pox are all scabbed over and he is recovering nicely- back to his happy self!

He still loves to dance and lately he has been singing. It is the sweetest! He has been clapping since he was 9 months old, dancing since 10 and now singing…I think he may turn out to be a musician. And the boy has rhythm- I love watching him get down- he makes me laugh!

I am not sure what else to add. He still loves to be outside and will scream and cry when we bring him in. He loves animals and loves to pet, hug, kiss all types- we have to be careful of the turtles :). We are told that he has to be the first in line at school- I do believe that he will be competitive like his Mommy. Justin says that he often has my attitude…I wont deny it, but hopefully he’ll use it in a good way- lol! He still loves to cuddle, hug and gives the best kisses. He is such a sweet boy! Loves his car- loves to drive our cars and his favorite shopping trips involve Lowes Food and Lowes Home Improvement (when he can drive the shopping cart). He loves to read and be read to. He will not sit long enough for a movie- which we are not worried about. I would rather him to be playing then in front of the TV anyday! He loves the phone and will stick it under his chin (without touching it) and talk- it's cuteness!! He also loves to wear braclets and our shoes. I know, but it is so cute to see him walking in our big shoes!! I am sure I will add more as I think of them…but that is all for now. We are so grateful to have him in our lives- he has taught us so much thus far, I can only imagine what the future holds. He is a great boy and makes us so proud! We are a very happy family and he completes us in so many ways!!

Beach Bums!

We headed to the beach late Thursday night. Justin had an awards ceremony to attend (and speak at- to which he did an AMAZING job, I must add). We got to Myrtle at 2AM. It was tough...but we had three whole days of beach that way. We stayed at the Sea Mist Resort with our good friends: Jacob, Jennifer their baby Katherin- and Shane, Tera and Haden. It was a lot of fun!! Since we were the late arrivers the good rooms were already taken- so the three of us piled into a small room with a double bed. That proved to be challenging- going from our normal King size to a double. Poor long legged Justin had to sleep in the fetal position to keep his legs on the bed- which really did not leave much room for Noah or me...the first night was terrible. Friday and Saturday night, Justin opted to sleep in the living room. It was sad to be on vacation and not even be able to sleep with my husband...but we managed :). The days were much better than the nights! We had a blast! The hardest part was chosing between the many pools they have to the beach to the water park (all part of the resort). I think we did a good job of splitting it up :). We had a great time! We're already planning another trip back!

Saturday morning I got the news that my grandfather passed away. His viewing was Wednesday night and his funeral was Thursday. It was nice to see so many family friends that I had not seen in a long long time. It was a beautiful day and I know that grandpa is in a better place. I was blessed to be able to know him and even more blessed that Noah was able to meet his Great-grandpa!

We love and will miss you Grandpa!

First Camping Trip

We are big out dorsey people :)- and we hope to raise Noah to be the same! We took him camping for the first time and had a blast! Justin went to Willie and Jess's house to get the boat- man, after the winter the boat was a mess! So much mildew!! That is another story- check out the picture and just imagine the rest.... But after $50ish dollars and a pressure washer (thanks Chad!) we got it to where we could sit and not turn green.... So, we took the pop-up and the boat out to Kerr for the weekend. I had to work my last "official" weekend at the vet so I was driving back and forth- but we had a great time! Noah did so well with both the camping and the boating. He didn't like his life jacket so much but did well with it. Enjoy the pictures :)!

Happy Birthday Haden!

After my graduation we heading to JC for Haden's first b-day!! It was a lot of fun. I cannot belive how big the boys are getting! They are too cute together. They took turns pushing eachother in Haden's car. It was adorable! Of course we got there late due to the graduation ceremony, but we able to see the birthday boy before he had to take a nap...then Justin and Shane went fishing....Dads! It was a good time none-the-lesss!

It's official! I'm a master's graduate!!

Finally after 3 years......

And I won an award for my thesis- the Garner Thesis Excellence Award. And along with the award came 500$! It was a GREAT surprise!

Teacher of the Year

I am very proud of my hubby and wanted to let everyone know that Justin has just received TEACHER OF THE YEAR at Alamance Community College. He is always my teacher of the year- but now he is ACC's too :)! I could not be more proud of him. He works so hard everyday. He far out does himself on a daily basis. I know how much he loves his job and he works so hard for the students and the college. He most definitely deserves this! SO-

CONGRATULATIONS JUSTIN!!

My new "big girl" job!!

I have a new job! I am finally a big girl :-)! I know Justin is relieved and I'm not so sure what we're going to do with the extra money. We've been living on one pay check for so long, it's going to be strange. I am super excited about it. I started on Monday and it's been very exciting and a little sad at the same time. I consider myself VERY lucky. I have been able to be a semi stay at home mommy for a year. Noah has been going to day care; however, being a grad student I have had a lot of mommy time with him. I have been able to let him sleep in until he wanted and my time has been quite flexible. And I have been able to get him anytime of the day or stay home for days a time. Now, I have to be at work at a reasonable hour (but from what I have been told, as long as I get my 40 hours in they don't care what time I come or go). Now, Justin has taken the mommy role. I'm a little sadden by this role change. Typically I get lots of Noah time and now he is taking it all. He takes Noah to school (his day care is on Justin's campus) and he picks him up. I get night times with him, but it's still a little sad. I do miss my baby time! He is growing so fast. But I do feel blessed that I had a year to spend with him. Okay, back to the new job. I am a research associate at Pfizer located in RTP. My actual title is Embryo Manipulation Technologist...EMT :)! So far I love it!! I am still adjusting, but I am excited to be part of the company. I will keep you updated! So it looks like I am a regular 8-4:30ish working woman...still have the part time ICU technician job but I think I'm ready to have my family weekends back. Well, just wanted to let you all know what's going on in the Snyder's lives. Thanks for keeping up with us!

OUR BIRTHDAY BOY!!!!

That's right! Our little boy is 1!!!! It is so hard to believe that he is already a big 1 year old toddler! He has changed so much! I love just watching him learn new things- which is on a day to day basis these days! What a year it's been! From ear infections, to bug bites, to Roesola- he's been such a trooper through it all. Then mommy starting a job and Noah starting child care. It's been a tough year for us all. He's been the best baby and we are so blessed to have him as ours!

Some of the things he is doing...
*Is still a healthy eater- not met a food he doesn't like!
*Some stranger anxiety- but still does very well! Is ALWAYS waving at people in stores and smiles at EVERYONE!
*Tends to be more comfortable with girls than men- and LOVES little kids!
*Is walking up a storm! Cruised for the longest time- I got him a little ball popper that he has to push (but doesn't support his weight, and in one day he was walking on his own).
*Still loves a bath! I think the pool is going to be a hit!
*Is trying to talk! He blabbers sentences and looks at you like you should know what he is saying...it always makes me smile!
*Words he does say: Momma, dada, ball, dog, hi, all done, tickle-tickle and yay (I sware he trys to say turtle)
*Still does very well on car trips!
*LOVES animals!....That's my boy :)!
*Is doing pretty well at signing- so far he does "hi", "bye", "up", "all done", "more", we're working on "cracker"- and he loves to clap, he is an encourager :)!
*He loves to be outside- he's our nature lover! And we love it!
*Recently he has been into basket ball- he got a goal for his birthday and he loves making baskets- he loves when we dribble the ball, but he can't figure out how to do it himself, it's too cute!
*He still gives the best hugs and open mouth kisses :)
*Still likes to cuddle!!
*We still give him a bottle before bed, although that is the only bottle he gets all day.
*He wants to use the big boy utensils at meal time, but he ends up pushing more of the food on the floor than on the fork- but it's fun to watch!

I think that's about it....I'm sure I'll be adding to this list as he changes every day! He's such a big boy!

Hello blog world!

Hey everyone! I am soooo sorry I have been slack on the blogging! The Snyder household has been extremely busy lately! I have FINISHED my master's!! Now, I've realized the hardest part is the post degree period...I am in the process of getting a J-O-B which is a lot harder than it sounds. I have had ONE interview and have applied for over 20 jobs. I am still applying and still hoping to get one soon! I know Justin is hoping I do too. Now that I am finished with school my stipend is no more and we are starting to see the effects. So that is the reason the blogging has been put at the end of my long list of 'to dos'. I am still working at the vet; however, most of my shifts are 2nd shifts (typically 3PM-12AM) and adding an hour drive (one way) it makes for a long day/night. Thus, the need for a 1st shift, 'normal' hours, closer drive is a must! I'll keep you all updated!

On a side note...Noah is doing great. Getting bigger and bigger everyday! He is trying to walk and dose a fair share of "cruising" around the house. He does well "walking" with his push toys and I am sure it wont be long till he's off on his own! He is into everything! We just cannot believe how big he is. And we can't believe that he is almost a year! It's crazy how the time has passed. I will be sure to post some new pics soon!!

Just wanted to give you a little update! I will make it a point to write more often! Noah changes so much every day. It's just amazing! I hope you all had a great Christmas, New Years, and Valentines day...wow- it's really been a while!! Thanks for still reading and not losing faith in me! I'll be better, I promise :)!!
